ARMENIA near Caspian sea is landlocked and surrounded by Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan and Georgia – is with 97% christian population has nominal presence of Hindu. Before being converted to Christianity in 301 AD Aremenians too were pagans and worshipped various deities. While Hinduism may not be a widely practiced religion in Armenia, the presence of Hindus and Hindu temples adds a unique dimension to the country’s cultural fabric.

The coexistence of different religious communities in Armenia contributes to the country’s pluralistic identity and enriches its social and cultural landscape.

Though precise figures are not readily available, it is estimated that there are several hundred Hindus living- approximately 4000 in Armenia. Many of them are expatriates or students who have come to Armenia for various purposes such as education, work, or business. The Hindu community in Armenia is diverse, comprising individuals from different regions of India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and other countries where Hinduism is practiced.

While the number of Hindu temples in Armenia is relatively small, there are a few temples that serve as important religious and cultural centers for the Hindu community. These temples provide a space for Hindus to come together, worship, celebrate festivals, and maintain their cultural traditions.

1. Yerevan Hindu Temple

The Yerevan Hindu Temple, located in the capital city of Yerevan, is the most prominent Hindu temple in Armenia. It serves as a focal point for the Hindu community and hosts various religious ceremonies, cultural events, and festivals throughout the year. The temple provides a serene and peaceful environment for worship and meditation, attracting both local Hindus and visitors from other parts of Armenia.

2. Gyumri Hindu Temple

Gyumri, the second-largest city in Armenia, is also home to a Hindu temple. While smaller in size compared to the Yerevan Hindu Temple, the Gyumri Hindu Temple plays a significant role in catering to the spiritual needs of the Hindu community in the region. It offers a place for prayer, spiritual guidance, and community gatherings.

3. Other Hindu Temples

In addition to the Yerevan and Gyumri Hindu Temples, there may be smaller prayer halls or private spaces where Hindus gather for worship in different parts of Armenia. These places may not be as well-known or accessible to the general public, but they still serve as important centers for religious and cultural activities within the Hindu community.

Hinduism being represented by ISKCON and TRANSCENDENTAL MEDITATION in 1990s and Indian students living there for higher studies.

Hindu temples have a rich history that spans across continents, and Ukraine is no exception. While Ukraine may not be commonly associated with Hinduism, it is home to a number of beautiful temples that hold deep cultural and religious significance for the Hindu community.

The presence of Hindu temples in Ukraine can be traced back to the late 20th century when a small number of Indian immigrants settled in the country. These temples serve as spiritual and cultural hubs, providing a sense of belonging and connection to the Hindu community.

One of the most prominent Hindu temples in Ukraine is the Radha-Krishna Temple in Kiev. It is a magnificent structure dedicated to Lord Krishna and his consort, Radha. The temple is adorned with intricate carvings and vibrant paintings, reflecting the rich artistic traditions of Hinduism.

Another significant temple is the Shiva Temple in Kharkiv. Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this temple attracts devotees from all over Ukraine. It is known for its peaceful ambiance and serene surroundings, providing a tranquil space for worship and meditation.

In addition to these temples, there are several other smaller temples spread across Ukraine. These include the Ganesh Temple in Lviv, the Durga Temple in Odessa, and the Hanuman Temple in Donetsk. Each of these temples has its unique architectural style and religious significance.

While the exact number of Hindu temples in Ukraine may vary, it is estimated that there are around 15 to 20 temples in different cities across the country. These temples serve as important cultural and religious centers, hosting various festivals and events throughout the year.

The Hindu community in Ukraine actively participates in religious ceremonies and festivals, such as Diwali, Holi, and Navratri. These celebrations not only provide an opportunity for the community to come together but also allow them to share their rich traditions and customs with the wider Ukrainian society.

The presence of Hindu temples in Ukraine is a testament to the growing multiculturalism and diversity in the country. These temples not only cater to the spiritual needs of the Hindu community but also serve as bridges between different cultures and religions.

The post UKRAINE first appeared on Temples Of World.
